From My Inbox: Ditch The F'g Humility
Random thoughts (typically related to networking) along with đź’© curated from my inbox.
“Don’t wait for the invitation to play the game of life, because it’s happening with or without us” — Donna Orender
Humility. For women this is a loaded word.
Society expects us to have it in spades, yet, we're penalized if we don't and lawd knows! we're not rewarded if we humbly downplay our sweated-out-hard-earned accomplishments. When someone is too saccharin "oh, do you really think so?" humble, well, I don't know about you...but I want to throttle them (about as much as I want to throttle the person who arrogantly takes credit for everything their team accomplishes together). Ah, the endless tango with gender expectations of humility...
WTF
Like an ill-fitting sweater or regretful home perm, my suggestion is to shed what doesn't fit or suit you - like being too humble in embracing your rightly-earned and deserved accomplishments.
